Barcelona reject Juventus’ first offer for Araujo, set €70 million price-tag

Barcelona have rejected the first formal offer from Juventus for Ronald Araujo, according to the latest report by Mundo Deportivo.
Juventus are in the transfer market for a new center back and Araujo who recently returned from a long-term injury has been identified as a perfect fit.
The Italian club showed their interest in signing Araujo last week, and after while the players agent requested Barcelona to review the proposal, Barça’s response was unequivocal: “He is not on the market.”
Barcelona see Araujo as a crucial piece in their squad, especially with the team gunning for major trophies this season after not winning anything last time out.
The club emphasises that the central defender, who also happens to be the second club captain, is vital to their ambitions in the second half of the campaign.
However, things could change if Juventus are willing to go all out for Araujo. The report adds that Barcelona would entertain the possibility of a transfer under specific circumstances.
Barcelona will only sanction the move if Araujo explicitly requests a move and Juventus brings an offer worth around €70 million.
Araujo’s contract runs until 2026, giving Barça leverage in any negotiations.
Meanwhile, transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano mentions that negotiations between the clubs will enter key stages next week, with Juventus making Araujo a top priority.
