Bayern Munich clinch Bundesliga title as Harry Kane ends title drought

Bayern Munich secured the Bundesliga title on Sunday, a move that meant Harry Kane has finally ended his career-long trophy drought.

Kane and his Bayern team-mates saw their title celebrations delayed by a 94th-minute RB Leipzig equaliser on Saturday, but Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw at Freiburg the following day has confirmed the title as theirs.

Bayern are now eight points clear of Leverkusen with two games left to play. Kane has scored 24 league goals for Bayern this season, and a remarkable 60 in 60 Bundesliga games.

England captain Kane also looks set to become the first player in Bundesliga history to be crowned top scorer in both his first two seasons.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest strikers of his generation, Kane is England’s all-time top scorer and left Tottenham Hotspur as their all-time top scorer. However, he has failed to win a trophy.

Kane lost the 2019 Champions League final while with Spurs and has also finished runners-up with England at both Euro 2020 and 2024.

Bayern endured a remarkably rare season without silverware during Kane’s first season at the club, but on Sunday secured their 34th German league title.

Eric Dier, another former Spurs player, was also part of Bayern’s title-winning squad.
