Andreas Christensen refuses to leave Barca despite club’s desire to offload defender

Former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen has refused to leave Barcelona despite the Spanish giant desire to part ways with the defender.
Christensen spent the majority of the 2024-25 season on the sidelines as Barcelona went on to lift the La Liga and Copa del Rey title. With Barca now looking at bringing in new players this summer, the Denmark international has been asked to find a new club.
However, according to a report from Cadena SER, The Danish centre-back who still has one more year left on his Barca contract has no intention of leaving.
The Catalans will have to reduce their wage bill and, according to La Liga president Javier Tebas, need to return to the 1:1 rule before they can sign primary target Nico Williams.

With Joan Garcia already signed, the Spanish champions will have to offload players. In fact, sporting director Deco even claimed that the centre-back position is “overcrowded” and one of the five players in that position will have to depart this summer.
Alongside Christensen, Ronald Araujo has also been tipped for an exit.
AC Milan are interested in Araujo but Barcelona are willing to part ways with Christensen. But, the 29-year-old is absolutely not entertaining the idea of leaving the club before completing his contract, which expires at the end of the 2025-26 season.
The Danish international is delighted with the love and support he keeps receiving from the Barcelona faithful, and intends to work his way into head coach Hansi Flick’s plans next season.
Barca, however, are wary of his poor injury record and would like to get his wages off the books and also recoup a decent transfer fee.
Christensen, last season underwent surgery as well as cellular regenerative therapy to rid himself of his persistent struggles with fitness. He will now be eager to impress Hansi Flick when the team reconcile for pre-season in around three weeks time.
