Barca star rejects club’s first renewal offer amid interest from Premier League
Barcelona are looking at renewing the contract of some players in the squad, especially players whose contract will expire at the end of the season.
Topping the list of players whose contract will run out at the end of the season is Andreas Christensen. The Denmark international is currently going through a tough season having
picked up a long-term injury during the first half of the season.
Still out injured, Christensen has been eligible to negotiate with any club over a free transfer since the start of January.
However, Barcelona remain keen on renewing the contract of Christensen, who is regarded highly due to his technical skill and versatility.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona had even tabled a contract renewal offer for Christensen that would have kept the Dane at the club for another year.
But it appears the former Chelsea defender has rejected Barça’s first proposal. While details of the contract are still sketchy, Christensen’s refusal could be due to the fact that the club’s offer included a massive paycut from his previous salary.
Christensen is not ready to leave Spain and wants to continue at Barcelona. He has asked his agent to continue negotiating with the Catalans in the hopes of reaching an agreement.
Meanwhile, Christensen’s situation is being monitored by several clubs across, including those from the Premier League, Bundesliga and Serie A.
