Bayern Munich set contract deadline for Real Madrid target Dayot Upamecano

Published on

Dayot Upamecano has continued to be linked with a move to Real Madrid as the Spanish giant monitor his current situation at Bayern Munich.

Upamecano has less than six months left on his current deal, and will become a free agent at the end of the season. Bayern Munich have now set a contract deadline for the France International as they want his future sorted out.

Earlier in January, Bayern were in advance talks with Upamecano and were cautiously optimistic about closing the deal sooner rather than later.

The Bundesliga giant reportedly had a framework agreed for a new long term deal. They have also reportedly agreed to insert a release clause in Upamecano’s contract. The only thing left is the final green light left from Upamecano to conclude the negotiations.

According to Bild, Bayern have now set a deadline of mid-February for Upamecano to make a decision.

The Bavarian club needs a final decision so that they can accordingly plan their summer transfer window.

Bayern Munich have performed brilliantly this season and the club would love Upamecano to shun Madrid for a new contract.

The current situation at Madrid might also confuse Upamecano to sign a new deal. While the Spanish giant are struggling for form, Bayern Munich are competing on all fronts, giving Upamecano best chance to add more silverware to his cabinet.

Bayern Munich hierarchy will hope Upamecano considers all these factors and make a decision sooner rather than later.
