Borussia Dortmund defeat PSG to reach 2023/24 Champions League final

Borussia Dortmund reached the 2023/24 Champions League final after securing a 1-0 win away at Paris Saint-Germain, securing a 2-0 aggregate victory.

Despite going into the game as favourite, Paris Saint-Germain failed to break down a well drilled Borrussia Dortmund defense.

Veteran defender Mats Hummels’ header early in the second half put the German side in a strong position which they didn’t relinquish.

Borrussia Dortmund last reached the final in 2012/13, being beaten 2-1 at Wembley Stadium, the ground where this season’s final will be held.

The German outfit will be facing either Real Madrid or fellow Bundesliga outfit, Bayern Munich, in what will be a thrilling final.

Dortmund qualified from a group that had PSG, AC Milan and Newcastle to set up a last-16 tie with PSV Eindhoven.

They defeated the Dutch outfit 3-1 on aggregate, and then pulled off a memorable comeback in the quarter-finals to triumph 5-3 over Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.

Dortmund’s semi final triumph over PSG means fans will not witness a showdown between Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid in the final.
