‎Carrick confirms stance on Bruno Fernandes captaincy

‎Bruno Fernandes will retain his role as Manchester United captain despite his recent comments over manager Michael Carrick’s tactics.

‎Fernandes voiced out his dissatisfaction over Carrick’s tactics following United’s 4-1 loss to Como in the Champions League last week. The Portuguese comment saw him benched for the Premier League game against Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

‎Carrick has now confirmed the issue between both parties have been sorted out ahead of their clash against Chelsea.

‎”Listen, we’re clear with the situation of the team, and as a football club at the moment. As I’ve just said, he’s an important player for this group,” Carrick told reporters.

‎”He has been and he will be. Between us, we’ve got to make a difference and we’ve got to push things in a good direction. He’s fully committed to this football club, he’s fully committed to making things better.

‎”It doesn’t change for me. He’s the one that’s kind of led the team so well for many a game and many a year, and he’ll continue to do that.”

‎When asked if Fernandes could have the captaincy taken away from him, Carrick said: “There is no decision to be made on that.”

‎Fernandes is expected to start the game against Chelsea after missing out in last week’s game against Bournemouth. He will be eager to help United secure their first win in the Premier League since the end of August.
