Chelsea willing to sanction sale of £40m signing after less than a year

Chelsea are prepared to make a huge decision this summer by sanctioning the sale of Alejandro Garnacho just less than a year after he joined from Manchester United.

Garnacho arrived at Stamford Bridge last August for £40m but has failed to impress. The Argentina international has struggled for form, leading to just eight goals and four assists across all competitions.

The former Manchester United forward has only five goal contributions in the Premier League, and reports from TalkSport claim Chelsea hierarchy are not impressed.

Chelsea’s brutal stance on Garnacho comes just days after he struggled against his former employers in a 1-0 defeat last Saturday.

He began the contest on the bench but had to come in the 16th minute after Estevao went down with a hamstring injury.

The Argentine failed to influence the game with Manchester United winning all three-point. Matheus Cunha scored the decisive goal as Micheal Carrick’s team bounce back from their shocking loss to Leeds last time out.

Garnacho will be eager to prove himself on Tuesday night when Chelsea travel to Brighton, who scored a stoppage-time equaliser to secure a 2-2 draw away to Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea currently sit seven points adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool, who occupy the final Champions League spot on offer in the Premier League, with five games remaining.
