Euro 2024 star doubts Arne Slot wants him at Liverpool, clarifies his future
The arrival of Arne Slot at Liverpool have seen the club linked with numerous players especially those who played under him at Feyenoord.
Slot built a great team during his time at Feyenoord and reports claimed some players are willing to follow him to Liverpool.
Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida set tongues wagging in April by watching Liverpool’s clash with West Ham United from the stands. One name that has also been mentioned in the media is David Hancko.
Hancko plays as a centre back in the Netherlands but has operated as a left back for Slovakia at Euro 2024.
Despite his superb performance for club and country, Hancko while speaking with now Voetbal International stated that he doesn’t believe Liverpool are looking for a player in his position.

Hanco who hailed Slot also clarified his future ahead of a busy summer transfer window.
“You always really look forward to training with him,” said Hancko. “His playing style and also the videos he shows in team meetings are all so professional. He always shows you what you specifically have to do when the opponent puts pressure in a certain way. And we trained on that for a week. Then he would say, for example: if they put pressure in this way, we have to find an extra player in this position. He indicated exactly where we had to stand in all kinds of situations. He is so special with these things. He has given me a lot of insights, I notice it now with the national team or when I watch matches on TV, that I recognise what teams do, what the defensive team has to do and what the opponent has to do to build up well. This is what he taught me.”
‘I think that in three years he will be named as one of the best coaches in the world. I can see that happening, because I know what he did with us and now he has the biggest platform to show that. I have a lot of confidence in him and his staff. And I don’t express that appreciation because I hope that I will go with him to Liverpool, because that is unlikely. I have spoken to him a few times after the end of the season, but I don’t think they are looking for a player in my position, so I don’t think a transfer to Liverpool will happen, but I wish him the best of luck, he really is a fantastic coach,” he added.
Hancko added that he is interested in a ‘bigger challenge in a bigger league’ and will talk to his agent about a potential transfer with Euro 2024 now out of the way, despite being happy at Feyenoord.
“I can focus more on it now, because now I can put the European Championship aside. Things have been mentioned in the media, but I will first talk to my agent. We can talk about that in the next two weeks and then also with Feyenoord. We’ll see.”
“I’ve said many times that I’m very happy at Feyenoord. I love the club, the fans, the stadium and everyone at the club. I’ve improved a lot as a player here, but as an athlete you also have to try to experience new things and it would be nice to take on an even bigger challenge in a bigger league,” said Hancko.
