Barcelona eye Man City midfielder, to use ‘Roque strategy’ to complete his deal

Barcelona are looking at signing Bernardo Silva from Manchester City with the Spanish club willing to implement the strategy that helped them sign Victor Roque.

Bernardo Silva has been linked with a move to Barcelona for the past few seasons however the Catalonia club are struggling financially.

With Silva’s contract not expiring until 2026, Barcelona will have to pay his release clause of €58 million, a fee Barcelona can’t afford.

Barcelona President, Joan Laporta, according to reports from Spanish media outlet SPORT, is looking to adopt a strategy that the club followed to sign Vitor Roque last summer from Athletico Paranaense to acquire the services of Silva this time around.

Roque was signed from Athletico Paranaense after Barca agreed a fee that can rise up to €61 million, but only €30 million of this amount was fixed, and that too was to be paid in deferred installments.

Barcelona are expected to use similar strategy to cover Bernardo Silva’s transfer fee. It’s left to see if City will accept such offer with the likes of Bayern Munich and PSG also linked to the Portuguese star.
