Barcelona second bid for Spanish star rejected despite verbal agreement

FC Barcelona second bid for RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo have been rejected by the Bundesliga side.

Olmo has become Barcelona top target after an impressive performance at EURO 2024. Though the Bundesliga side are also looking at signing Nico Williams, that deal is reportedly off due to Atletico Bilbao asking price.

Barca are now set to suffer another heartbreak. According to Sport, Barcelona tabled a second bid for Olmo worth €50m and €15m (£13m/$16m) in add-ons but the Bundesliga club are unwilling to allow a deal at such a price.

Leipzig are unhappy with both the fee being proposed and the payment structure. They would prefer a deal where they are guaranteed €55m (£46m/$59m) and want the majority of it this summer.

However, Barcelona are unable to match that demand at present. The Spanish club are currently going through financial crisis and have been forced to pay transfer fees in instalments

Despite this  Olmo remains Barca’s top target and the Catalan giants are said to remain hopeful they will be able to strike a deal. It is unclear if Leipzig have set any sort of deadline for negotiations to conclude.
