‘No Wow moments’: Benzema takes brutal dig at Rodri Ballon d’Or win

Former Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has shared his thoughts on Rodri winning the Ballon d’Or award over his former teammate Vinicius Jr.
The 2024 Ballon d’Or award has sparked a huge controversy on and off social media. Real Madrid’s entire delegate failed to attend the event after it was discovered that Vinicius Junior will not be announced as winner.
Since the winner was announced, various footballers have come out to share their opinion with Benzema being the latest to make comment.
The Al-Ittihad striker revealed he has spoken to Vinicius since the ceremony. “I spoke to Vini, he’s sad… it’s also normal. He deserved to win the Ballon d’Or,” Benzema told El Chiringuito TV.

Moving on, Benzema appeared to take a dig at Rodri for lacking the ‘wow’ factor.
“I have nothing against Rodri, and he’s a great player, but when I’m on the sofa, watching TV and I don’t see things that make me say ‘uff’ and Vinicius has done it more than once. He deserves the Ballon d’Or.”
This statement from Benzema has sparked huge reactions from fans as many insisted that Real Madrid were wrong to have missed the ceremony.
Vinicius Junior has put the event behind him and he’s back in training alongside his teammates as they prepare for their next La Liga match.
