Thibaut Courtois Return Date: Carlo Ancelotti provides positive update

Thibaut Courtois

Thibaut Courtois return date has been disclosed by Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, as the Belgium international continue to recover from a long term injury.

Courtois has missed the entire season so far after suffering an ACL tear just two days before the opening game against Athletic Club.

Though he expected to be back midway through the season, however, the comeback was derailed by a meniscus tear in his other knee during a training session last month.

Courtois underwent another surgery to repair the knee and is now set to make his comeback.

According to Ancelotti, Courtois could return to action as soon as next weekend when they host Cadiz in La Liga.

“Let’s see if Thibaut can [play] against Cadiz,” Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti said following Friday night’s narrow 1-0 win over Real Sociedad.

The game is scheduled for Saturday 4 May and Real Madrid fans will be eager to see their first choice goalie back on the pitch.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was brought on loan from Chelsea to replace Courtois, however, he was displaced by Andriy Lunin.
