Jack Grealish and Kyle Walker have been left out of Manchester City’s squad for the upcoming Club World Cup tournament in the United States.

Manchester City will take a 27-man squad to the Club World Cup and this will include eight players brought into the football club over the last two transfer windows.

In what has been a fruitful first summer transfer window for Pep Guardiola, the citizens have brought in Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli. All players have been included among the travelling party after completing their transfers in the last week.

There is also room on the plane for the January signings of Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez, Abdukodir Khusanov, and Vitor Reis. The two centre-backs in particular were brought in as players for the future and were left out of several matchday squads towards the end of the campaign, but are still backed as part of the group; Claudio Echeverri, who arrived from River Plate in February, is also there.

City have also called up midfielder Rodri as he steps up his recovery from injury, while Kevin De Bruyne is not named despite still being contracted to the citizens until June 30.

Kyle Walker and Jack Grealish are two big omissions, with both left out on the expectation that they have played their last game for the club.

Walker began the last campaign as club captain yet asked to leave in January and joined AC Milan on loan, while Grealish started just one Premier League game from January and was left out of the squad for the final match.

Also, James McAtee is missing from the squad as he is captaining England at the Under-21 European Championship instead, although he is expected to leave this summer as well.
