Jurgen Klopp to make first major call of Red Bull project, targets Premier League boss
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has started his new role as Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer and is set to make his first big call.
Klopp’s role will see him advise clubs affiliated with Red Bull on matters such as appointment of a new manager. The German now a big decision to make, as one of their clubs, RB Leipzig, continue to struggle under Marco Rose.
Saturday’s 2-1 loss at home to Mainz has put the Rose under more pressure, with Leipzig now clinging onto the final European spot in the Bundesliga. Sky Germany report that club chiefs are planning to stick with Rose for the remainder of the season before making a change.
Topping the list of managers likely to replace Rose is Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner. Red Bull chief Jurgen Klopp drew up a three-man shortlist to replace the struggling Marco Rose.

Glasner, 50, was linked with a move to German giants Bayern Munich last summer after an impressive start to life with Palace, who reportedly demanded €100million (£82m) for his services. The Austrian stayed put at Selhurst Park and after a challenging start to his first full season in the Premier League has got the Eagles flying again.
Palace are now set to face another fight to keep hold of Glasner, as Lezipig are said to be weighing up a move.
It’s claimed that the Palace manager joins Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness and Roger Schmidt on Leipzig’s three-man shortlist. One of the key figures involved in the process will be former Liverpool manager Klopp, Red Bull’s Global Head of Soccer.
Having joined in February 2024, Glasner has 16 months left on his contract with Palace, The former Eintracht Frankfurt boss, who led them to the Europa League in 2022, was under pressure at the beginning of this season but has turned the Eagles’ form around.
