Kylian Mbappe beats Ronaldo’s record, Messi’s 2014 record still intact
Kylian Mbappe enjoyed a successful 2025, the French forward was unstoppable for Real Madrid and his national team.
The former Paris Saint-Germain forward who recently turned 27 years old has already broken countless records throughout his career so far. However, he failed to surpass Lionel Messi when it comes to the number of league goals scored before turning 27.
In the history of Europe’s top five leagues, different players have made a name for themselves by scoring for fun before turning 27.

Mbappe scored 239 goals and was just four goals shy of levelling Messi’s record of 243 league goals.
The Frenchman scored the bulk of his league goals in Ligue 1 for PSG and has maintained that same pace with Real Madrid in La Liga.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored 174 league goals before turning 27. The Portuguese forward is still scoring for fun at 40 and has not shown any sign of slowing down.

While Messi’s goal is still intact, Haaland will be pushing to break the record when he turns 27. The Manchester City forward is only 25 years old and he’s already scored 166 league goals, he’s guaranteed to move up this list over the coming years.
