Liverpool star wants January transfer after struggling under Arne Slot

Liverpool are flying high in the Premier League, Champions League and Cup Competition as Arne Slots hopes to win silverware in his debut season.

Slot has been able to build a strong team but one player who failed to find his feet in the squad is Federico Chiesa. The Italy international joined Liverpool in the summer but has found limited game time.

Chiesa joined Liverpool in a €12 million (£10m/$12m) deal but has struggled to stay fit. The former Juventus forward has failed to convince Arne Slot that he is ready to play a regular role for the Premier League leaders.

Three of Chiesa’s four appearances for Liverpool came in September 2024, with his last minutes seen off the bench on December 18.

Chiesa is now prepared for a new adventure elsewhere. According to FootMercato, Chiesa is now pushing for a January transfer.

Any agreement there is likely to be a short-term loan, with teams in Italy reluctant to meet even half of the forward’s supposed €7.5m (£6m/$8m) annual salary.

Reports claimed that AC Milan, Roma and Napoli have all expressed interest in Chiesa, who is a proven performer at the highest level.

Chiesa is eager to find game time somewhere, with it clear that opportunities will continue to be limited in a Liverpool squad that also includes Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.
