Luis Suarez advice Liverpool star over incident that saw him banned

Former Barcelona and Liverpool icon Luis Suarez has urged Darwin Nunez to prove he is a great player and bounce back from his international ban.

Nunez is currently banned for five international matches following a Copa America brawl that involved the Liverpool forward and fans.

After Uruguay’s semi-final defeat to Colombia in the summer Nunez was among several Uruguay stars who legged it into the stands to protect their families from Colombian hooligans.

However, the continent’s governing body, CONMEBOL, after investigation handed out punishments for the players with the Liverpool star now missing five games.

Suarez who has had his share of controversies have now offered his advice and hopes the forward bounces back with some enjoying his struggles.

He said: “I already spoke with Darwin when he was sanctioned in England. Sometimes people enjoy it more when you are on the ground and fall, but people feel more pain when you get back up.

“And that is what he has to do: get up and continue to show the kind of player he is. That is where you see the great players and the mental strength he has to have to show those people that they like to see him on the ground.”

Nunez has scored 13 goals in his 29 appearances for his country. He is expected to pick up where Suarez have left off.
