Spanish club eye Federico Chiesa after disappointing Liverpool season
Spanish side Real Betis are stepping up for Italy international Federico Chiesa, who is expected to leave Liverpool on loan this summer.
Chiesa endured a frustrating 2024-25 season at Liverpool, the winger was sidelined for months early in his tenure due to a muscle injury, and as the season progressed, competition within the club rarely provided an opportunity to the former Juve star.
The 27-year-old struggled for any playing time at Liverpool this season, making just 14 competitive appearances, in which he contributed two goals and two assists.
Seeking a move to revive his career, latest report from el Correo claim the 27-year-old wants to join Real Betis. Chiesa’s camp is said to be inspired by Antony’s success under Betis’ head coach Manuel Pellegrini.
Also, Football Espana report that Betis see Chiesa as a valid and more realistic alternative to another Antony loan.
The beaten Conference League Finalists had been hoping to keep Antony for longer after his fantastic spell while on loan from Manchester United.
However, they simply cannot afford the cost and Manchester United are eager to cash in quickly rather than wait for another loan move.
Real Betis will face competition from other Italian club who are looking at bringing back Chiesa to the Seria A. Milan, Napoli and Roma are some of clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.
