Surprise Reunion! Liverpool linked with re-signing £46m forward

Liverpool are currently on the lookout for a new attacking player following the departure of Mohamed Salah.

The Reds have not given an update on who will replace the Egyptian king but Darwin Nunez is reportedly interested in returning to Anfield a year after leaving for Al Hilal.

Nunez left Liverpool to join the Saudi Pro League side in a £46million plus add-ons deal last summer following a three-season stint at Anfield. However, things has failed to work out fine for the Uruguay international in the Middle East.

Following the January signing of Karim Benzema, Nunez was axed from their league squad.

Nunez in now in talks with Al Hilal over a summer exit.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Nunez have reported that he would like to head back to Liverpool.

Nunez divided opinion during his time at the club as he hit 40 goals and 26 assists, but fans were skeptical of his finishing.

Liverpool have not given an indication on who will replace Mo Salah but Nunez will be eager to prove he still has what it takes to play at the highest level when he represents Uruguay at the World Cup.

Having scored nine goals and assisted another five in Al Hilal, Nunez has the chance to redeem himself at the World Cup.

Uruguay are in Group H with Spain, Cape Verde, and Saudi Arabia, with the latter their first test on June 15.

Cape Verde and Spain follow, with Nunez hoping to score his first World Cup goal ahead of a potential return to Liverpool.
