Vincent Kompany extends Bayern Munich’s contract until 2029

Vincent Kompany has signed a contract extension at Bayern Munich. The Belgium gaffer has committed to a fresh extension that will keep him as the Bayern boss until summer 2029.
Hired before the start of the 2024/25 season, Kompany’s previous deal had him tied to the Bundesliga outfit until 2027, but club bosses are happy with the trajectory which the former Anderlecht and Burnley boss has put the club on.
Kompany helped Bayern regain the Bundesliga title last season after Bayer Leverkusen ended the Bavarian club’s 11-season streak as league champions the season prior.
Bayern have won 49 of the 67 games which Kompany has overseen since being appointed, with the team scoring a remarkable 197 goals in that period.

The current Bundesliga leaders have won each of their 11 games across all competitions this season. This includes the team’s 2-1 victory over VfB Stuttgart in the German Super Cup.
Following the official announcement on Tuesday (October 21), Kompany spoke on his decision to remain committed to Bayern for another four years.
“I’m grateful, honoured and would like to thank FC Bayern for the trust and the working environment they’ve given me from day one,” the 39-year-old told official Bayern channels.
“It feels like I’ve been here a lot longer and that I know the club well. It’s been a great experience so far. Let’s keep working hard and celebrate much more success!,” the ex-Manchester City defender added.
Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen touched on the quality of the team’s football under Kompany being a key reason for the renewal.
“Vincent Kompany has brought the fun back to FC Bayern – and the spark has really caught on. Under his leadership, a real team has grown that plays dominant and attractive football,” he explained.
“The extension is also a signal to our players. Moreover, I like Vincent’s level-headedness. He never pushes himself into the limelight and makes our players better with his meticulous work.”
