Aaron Ramsey lays out future plan after ending contract with Mexican club

Former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey could be heading back to the dugout having not played since September.

Ramsey coached three games as an interim at Cardiff last season before heading back abroad with Mexican side Pumas. However, his adventure in Mexico was not fulfilled as he struggled to stay fit, his contract was terminated at the end of October with just six games on his record.

Currently recovering from an injury, the 34-year-old midfielder joined Wales during their November international fixtures in an unofficial role.

During that time, he got an insight into coaching life under former teammate Craig Bellamy and has reaffirmed his desire to make the transition himself.

Asked if coaching is still on the cards, Ramsey told talkSPORT: “Yes, absolutely.

“That’s the route that I never thought I would take, but definitely in the last few years I’ve done my badges, I’m on the Pro [licence course] at the moment.

“It’s something that I really enjoy doing with Cardiff under-18s at the beginning of that and then obviously I took charge of Cardiff for the last three games which was really good, a great experience.

“I went with Wales last week and that’s a real good insight into everything that goes on behind the scenes.

“The hours and the effort and detail that goes into those things and preparing the boys to go into those things to execute a gameplan.

“But it’s addictive, so I definitely see myself going into that space.”

Ramsey who enjoyed 11 years spell at Arsenal also backed the Gunners to win the Premier League title this season under former midfield partner Mikel Arteta.

He commented: “What we’ve seen this season has been incredible, the amount of clean sheets they’ve had.

“They look like they’re a team now that are ready to take the next step. It’s not easy to win the Premier League by no means but this is as good a chance as they’ll have.

“It’s an important week coming up [Tottenham, Bayern Munich, Chelsea] and it’s important to get through, but they’ve been really impressive so far.”
