Florian Wirtz to get new Liverpool role after Mohamed Salah exit
Mohamed Salah has announced he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, a move that will open up a new role for Florian Wirtz.
Salah will end a nine years adventure at Liverpool this summer, with various across Europe monitoring his situation. The Egypt international departure will pave way for Wirtz to prove his big money move from Bayer Leverkusen.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool plan to change their tactics next season.
The report claim Liverpool will not automatically sign a new right winger for their tried-and-tested 4-2-3-1 formation. Rather, the focus is on manager Arne Slot’s intention to have his team play increasingly in a 4-2-2-2 formation in future.

In this setup, Alexander Isak (signed from Newcastle United for €145 million) and Hugo Ekitike (signed from Eintracht Frankfurt for €95 million), are set to form a strike partnership.
Both players have not been able to blend this season, partly because Isak has rarely been fit and has only played ten matches.
Behind the strikes, Florian Wirtz and Dominik Szoboszlai will share the central midfield.
They are to be supported by two defensive midfielders, who are currently likely to be Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister. The Argentine World Cup winner would therefore have to play a more defensive role than he usually does at the moment.
Report claim having the summer signings Isak, Ekitike and Wirtz in the same team is a “priority”.
Wirtz is likely to benefit from this new role as he excelled in attacking midfield during his time at Bayer Leverkusen.
