El Classico: Madrid defensive star not training, likely to miss Barcelona visit

The last El Classico of the 2023/24 season will be played in the next 24 hours but Real Madrid is likely to be without Ferland Mendy for the match.
Real Madrid is looking to seal the La Liga title as a win against Barcelona on Sunday will see Carlo Ancelotti’s team open a ten points lead at the top.
However, Madrid will likely play the game without French defender, Ferland Mendy.
According to journalist Guillermo Rai, Real Madrid defensive mainstay Ferland Mendy is not participating in training with the team today due to an overload in his left leg.
Mendy, 28, has been an important player in the Madrid squad this season with manager Ancelotti trusting the Frenchman due to the solidity and security he brings to the table.
He was instrumental for his team when they defeated Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final clash.
However, Mendy who appeared to have lost his place to Fran Garcia earlier in the season is now a doubt for the clash against Barcelona.
Updates from Guillermo Rai also state that Real Madrid is not ruling out the Frenchman from the game against Barcelona as of yet.
It was also confirmed that Carvajal was back in training as was Thibaut Courtois, who is still recovering from a season-long injury.
