Paul Pogba has tipped Manchester United to become Premier League champions under Michael Carrick within the next three years.

Carrick was impressive during his short spell last season, helping United finish third in the Premier League and therefore qualifying for the 2026/27 Champions League.

The former midfielder won 12 of his 17 matches in charge and lost just two, with 33 goals scored across all those fixtures.

This impressive statistics got Carrick the permanent job at Old Trafford.

And Pogba, who made 28 appearances alongside Carrick for the club, believes they are destined for league glory under his management.

Speaking to talkSPORT at the World Cup, he said: “I played with him. I also had him as a coach.

“He’s really close to the players, he knows the game and I think he can really bring something to this team.

“When he came here the team changed totally and it’s going to be a big test for them next season.”

When asked if United can win the Premier League with Carrick at the helm, Pogba said: “Yes, I think Manchester United will win in the next few years. They’re gonna be champions of the Premier League.

“If Arsenal can be champions, Manchester United will definitely be champions. It’s a big statement… but I believe they will.”

“Yes, I believe so,” he insisted on whether or not the title will come in five years.

“I probably say next three years, next three years in my opinion. Yeah I think they can make it the next three years.”

Pogba made 233 appearances across two spells at United before his second exit in 2022. The France international had a mixed time at Old Trafford with injury issues limiting him from further outings.

While some fans believe he was not able to reach his full potential at the club, Pogba still looks back fondly on his United career as he said: “I have a big history with Manchester United.

“They’re always gonna be in my heart, with the good, with the bad and I mean that club was my first love really.”

United have not won the Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013 and it’s left to be seen if Michael Carrick will break the curse.
