Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continued his good for Deportivo, helping the Spanish side secure a 1-1 draw at Getafe.
The former Barcelona forward scored the equaliser and in the process became the first player since Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2009-10 to score in each of the first five LaLiga games of a season.
Ibrahimovic achieved the feat with Barcelona, scoring in each of his first five league appearances in Spain.
Aubameyang, 37, has joined an elite group of 10 players to have done so. The former Arsenal and Chelsea player had previously found the net against Elche, Málaga, Valencia and Villarreal before scoring on Sunday.
“Aubameyang is a global star,” Deportivo captain Ximo Navarro said. “Everyone knows what a player he is. He’s on an impressive run of form. We do everything we can to help him score goals and try to capitalise on his current form. Hopefully he’ll score every matchday. I’m very happy with his signing. He’s a top-class player and brings a lot to the team.”

Deportivo coach Antonio Hidalgo also heaped praised on the former Gabon international. “Aubameyang is a sight to behold,” he said.
“We’re not about to discover his talent. In the 92nd minute, he made a stunning run back, and that speaks volumes about his commitment and humility.
“He’s a role model for us and we’ll keep pushing him to maintain this level of performance. Aubameyang has exceptional physicality and incredible talent. I’m very happy for him.”
Aubameyang returned to LaLiga this summer having had a brief loan spell at Barcelona in 2022.
He has contributed to seven of Deportivo’s nine goals this season to help the recently promoted club remain unbeaten in LaLiga.
Deportivo are sixth in the table and host Sevilla on Wednesday.
