Alan Shearer blasts ex Chelsea forward over his performances, goal scoring record

Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer, Alan Shearer has voiced out his displeasure over Timo Werner’s scoring abilities after Tottenham Hotspur’s loss to Newcastle.

Former Chelsea forward, Timo Werner is currently on loan at Tottenham Hotspur from RB Leipzig but has failed to hit the ground running.

Though he has shown glimpse of his talent, Shearer was skeptical of his performance during Tottenham disappointing 4-0 loss to Newcastle.

Speaking about Werner’s volley ballooning over the bar at 0-0, Shearer said: “He has a long time to look at that, it has come in from a long way to adjust your body to head it or volley it.”

“Yet, when the ball comes in, he isn’t ready at all. That’s the two chances he had. He had to hit the target at least. That’s no surprise because his finishing is really poor and it has been for a long time.”

Tottenham are still on the lookout for Harry Kane’s replacement and it seems Timo Werner will be allowed to lead the line at the London club.

A decision will need to be made on Werner’s future sooner than later and it’s looking like he will return to his parent club when his loan contract expires.
