Andy Robertson In Talks Over Shock Tottenham Transfer

Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool after the left-back voiced his frustrations over a lack of game time.

The arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth in the summer have seen Robertson lose the first team spot. Arne Slot prefers the Hungary international with Robertson forced to start from the bench.

Robertson has entered the final five months of his current contract with Liverpool and recently admitted he could leave in search of more regular minutes.

Thomas Frank’s Tottenham are now prepared to offer him a lifeline.

According to The Athletic, Spurs were planning to move for the Scotland international once his Liverpool contract expires on June 30, but have been encouraged to bring forward their plans.

The London club wants to secure his signature before the January transfer window closes.

Report claim Tottenham are now in ‘amicable negotiations’ with Robertson’s representatives and Liverpool over a deal this month.

Liverpool are understood to be open to doing business, given that Robertson will leave for free in the summer, and they can recall Kostas Tsimikas from Roma to provide cover for Kerkez if needed.

Tottenham’s interest in Robertson comes just hours after they announced the £13million signing of Souza from Santos. The 19-year-old left-back was described by Thomas Frank as “one of the brightest left-back talents in the world” in the club’s announcement.

Spurs already have Destiny Udogie, Djed Spence and Ben Davies on the books as options at left-back.
