Arsenal hit with new fitness concern as star player misses training

Premier League giant Arsenal have been handed a fitness concern after Declan Rice missed training ahead of their Champions League clash with Inter Milan.

With Arsenal due to fly out to Italy on Tuesday, Rice was absent when the squad trained on Tuesday morning.

The reason behind the absence is currently unclear, and Mikel Arteta is expected to address the issue at his pre-match press conference at 6pm UK time on Tuesday evening.

Rice has been an important figure in Arsenal since he joined from West Ham United. The England international has been a virtual ever-present for the this season and has missed just two games.

He missed Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Tottenham in September due to suspension and then last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Preston when he was rested.

Though he completed the full 90 minutes in the Gunners Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Newcastle, Arteta might have to do without his star midfielder on Wednesday.

However, Arsenal have Martin Odegaard back in training after more than two months out with an ankle injury. It’s left to be seen if the midfielder will be given the chance to play on Wednesday or will be rested for the clash against Chelsea on Sunday.
