Barcelona presidential candidate breaks silence on Dani Olmo future

Dani Olmo has continued to make headlines as Barcelona were unable to get their summer signing registered with La Liga before the 31st December deadline passed.

Barcelona failed to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, as a result, these two players have been deregistered by the league authorities, and as already reported, their profiles on the La Liga official website have also been deleted.

This situation can lead to a significant blow for the Blaugrana club, with Olmo already an important player in the squad, the Spanish midfielder might be allowed to leave.

Barcelona will also face humiliation from rivals and one of Joan Laporta’s competitors in the last presidential elections, Víctor Font, has asked him some very difficult but essential questions.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the former presidential candidate issued a statement in this regard, which ran as follows:

“Given the seriousness of the issues surrounding the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, and the terrible and unworthy image of the best club in the world, we share the concern of all Barça fans over the disastrous sporting, economic, and institutional consequences of this case.”

“The outcome is the potential loss of a player we signed four months ago for 55 million euros, who now might leave due to a management approach full of improvisation and an absolute lack of professionalism.”

Font went on to ask some important questions from the Barcelona President, starting from the need to sign Olmo when there was not enough salary margin to register him:

“We want to know the reason for signing such a valuable player, knowing we were exceeding the Fair Play regulations, especially if, as has been shown, there was no plan to resolve the situation.”

He also questioned the Catalan club’s judicial approach to getting this matter solved:

“We want to know the reason for taking the matter to court if we knew it had no viable path, as evidenced by the judge’s rulings.”

“What actions is the club taking from now on to prevent the loss of Olmo and Pau Víctor?”

Barcelona sold their VIP seats to be able to register the duo in time, and thus had to sell this asset below its value. The former presidential candidate also wanted transparency in this aspect:

“We want transparency regarding the operation to sell VIP seats at Camp Nou.”

Barcelona fans are hoping the current president will be able to sort things out while answers to the questions raised are clarified in the future.
