Barcelona reportedly set sight on €90m-rated Atletico Madrid star

Barcelona are looking to strengthen their squad this summer after a successful season under Germany tactician Hansi Flick.

The Catalonia club won the LaLiga title, Copa Del Rey and Spanish Super Copa in Flick’s first season in charge. Flick was able to transform the squad, bringing out the best in players such as Raphina, Yamal and Pedri.

Barcelona are now looking at bringing in new players to help the squad with Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez their top target.

The Argentine striker has quickly become one of the standout names in Spanish football, netting 29 goals and providing six assists in just 53 games across all competitions.

According to a report from Fichajes, the stats produced by Alvarez as well as his work rate, eye for goal, and movement between the lines have made him a top target for Barcelona.

At 25, he has shown his versatility and intelligence on the pitch, thriving in a pressing game and finishing chances with both feet.

Given Barcelona’s financial constraints, the club is aware that signing Alvarez outright could be difficult. Reports suggest the Catalans are exploring the idea of offering players in exchange to reduce the final price tag.

While no names have been mentioned yet, the strategy is to act early and position themselves ahead of other interested clubs.

Furthermore, what works in Barcelona’s favour is the fact that Alvarez’s camp has not ruled out a move, especially if it involves a strong and competitive project, something the Blaugrana hope to present.

Atletico Madrid are known for doing business with Barcelona and if the right offer comes in, Alvarez might be playing football at Barca next season.
