Chelsea proposed deal for Omorodion collapse, reignites Joao Felix interest
Chelsea hope of signing Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid has suffered a huge blow and the deal has collapsed.
Samu Omorodion, fresh from winning Olympic gold with Spain, was supposed to join Chelsea this week but that won’t happen. According to Relevo, Omorodion has failed to pass medical tests in west London – forcing him back to the Spanish capital.
Omorodion‘s €40 million (£34m/$44m) deal would have covered the cost of Atletico Madrid acquiring Conor Gallagher from Chelsea. However, both clubs are looking at working on another deal.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano Joao Felix might be moving to Stamford Bridge.
Discussions with his agent, Jorge Mendes, are said to have taken place in London. If the Portuguese forward agrees to head back to Chelsea, then Atletico can press ahead with efforts to bring Gallagher on board alongside Manchester City’s World Cup-winning striker Julian Alvarez.
Portugal international Felix took in a short loan spell with the Blues during the 2022-23 campaign – scoring four goals through 20 appearances. He spent last season with Barcelona, with the 24-year-old making it clear that the Blaugrana were his “dream” club.
Felix is now set for another move as Atletico Manager Diego Simeone is not willing to work with the Portuguese. Atletico are also ready to cash in and Chelsea seems to be the new destination.
