Dembele injury update revealed ahead of Tottenham clash

Ousmane Dembele could make his return from injury as PSG prepares to face Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

The Ballon d’Or winner has not played since he was forced off injured midway through the first half of PSG’s 2-1 home loss to Bayern Munich in the competition on Nov. 4.

Dembele damaged his left calf having only recently returned following a right hamstring injury sustained while playing for France in September.

However, PSG coach Luis Enrique said on the eve of the match against Spurs at the Parc des Princes that Dembele would be included in the squad “if there is no problem.”

“Each time an injured player comes back, it’s difficult to know how to manage it,” he said. “If we’re talking about Ousmane, of course I’ll be more attentive than usual. We would love to have Ousmane back, but we have to be careful.”

PSG beat Tottenham on penalties when they met in August in the UEFA Super Cup, securing the French club’s fifth trophy of 2025.

In that fixture, Tottenham had established a two-goal lead and appeared poised for victory before Dembele spearheaded a late comeback, ultimately leading to PSG securing the win on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Luis Enrique acknowledged the contrasting circumstances for Wednesday’s match compared to the Super Cup, where PSG had only just returned to pre-season training.

He praised their opponents, stating: “Tottenham have had a great start to the season and are still unbeaten in the Champions League. Most of their players are internationals. They’re a strong side.”

Reflecting on the previous encounter, the manager added: “The Super Cup? That was the first game of the season; Wednesday’s game will be different.

“It’s a good memory because it ended well, but a bad memory if I think back to the first 60 minutes when we were struggling.”
