Donny van de Beek confirms Manchester United exit with emotional statement

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has announced he will be leaving Old Trafford permanently this summer.

Donny van de Beek joined Manchester United from Ajax in 2020 but struggled to secure regular first-team football under multiple managers.

In a message to his followers on Instagram, the Dutchman shared that Wednesday, July 10 would be his last day at the club. He posted: “Dear Manchester United family. Today is a memorable day as my adventure at the club comes to an end.

“I want to thank you all for your support throughout the years. From the moment we arrived at Manchester United, we felt extremely welcome and we are grateful for that.

“Thank you to everyone at the club for making us feel at home. A special thanks to all the fans that made these years unforgettable.

“Besides the football, the birth of our two children here ensures that Manchester will always have a special place in our hearts. Good luck to everybody, we’ll meet again.”

Van de Beek is now set to join Spanish club Girona on a permanent deal.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the transfer agreement includes a €500k fixed fee plus several add-ons, potentially increasing the total fee to €15 million.

Romano revealed the structure of the deal, with initial add-ons raising the fee to €4-5 million. Further, performance-based incentives could bring the total value to €15 million.

Van de Beek has agreed to a contract with Girona until June 2028, with United securing a sell-on clause as part of the transfer terms.
