Barcelona set to miss out on €50 million-rated Serie A midfield maestro

Barcelona are set to miss out of signing Atlanta star midfielder Ederson this summer due to two reasons.

As the future of Xavi Hernandez continues to make the headlines, Barcelona are still on the lookout for a new pivot midfielder heading into the summer transfer window.

Martin Zubimendi and Joshua Kimmich have been linked with a summer move to Spain but Barcelona are also exploiting other options.

Topping the list of players likely to fill that role is Atalanta’s midfield enforcer Ederson, a player who has caught the eye of Barcelona sporting director Deco.

However, Barcelona expected to miss out on Ederson this summer due to two reasons. According SPORT, Barcelona are not in the financial position to sign the midfielder.

Ederson is also attracting serious interest from clubs in the Premier League, who are interested in bidding war. Barcelona are not willing to be caught in such scenario..

Furthermore, even though Ederson’s current market value stands at around €30 million, Atalanta are demanding a sum of €50 million for his services in the summer.

Though Premier League club will have no issues spending such fee on a player, Barcelona are not financially stable for such.

24-year-old Ederson has been enjoying a fine season with Atalanta, playing an important role in their progression to the finals of the UEFA Europa League where they will face Bayer Leverkusen.
