Christopher Nkunku injury: Pochettino provides update ahead of FA Cup semi-final

Christopher Nkunku

Christopher Nkunku injury has seen him play a lesser role in the squad this season but Mauricio Pochettino has given an update on his return.

The France international has not played for the blues since February after suffering from a hamstring injury.

With Chelsea set to face Manchester City in the FA Cup semi final, Pochettino confirmed that Christopher Nkunku has returned to partial team training.

“They assess him day by day and in the last few days he has the possibility to be involved in some parts of the training session,” head coach Mauricio Pochettino confirmed on Friday.

“We now need to see the reaction of his body and then how he is going to be involved. We hope we can recover him and he can be available as soon as possible or before the end of the season.”

Pochettino also revealed that goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, who has been sidelined through illness, is also back in partial team training.

Also set to return is experience winger Raheem Sterling who has been missing in action due to sickness.

Enzo Fernandez and Axel Disasi missed Chelsea’s 6-0 win over Everton but both players are back in the team.
