Inter Milan ‘Ready’ to Strike Deal to Sign Struggling Man United Star

2024/25 Champions League finalists Inter Milan are prepared to sign a new forward this summer as they aim to strengthen their squad.

Having qualified for the Champions League final and currently sitting just one point behind Napoli in the race for the Serie A title, the Italian giants have now identified Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee as a potential target for the upcoming transfer window.

Manchester United are expected to undergo a rebuild this summer, bringing in several new players who can thrive under Ruben Amorim in what will be his first full season in charge at Old Trafford.

Several players are expected to leave the club as United look to generate funds—and Zirkzee could be among those heading for the exit.

Zirkzee has struggled in his first season at Old Trafford, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in 48 appearances after joining from Bologna last summer.

The latest reports claim that Inter Milan are prepared to offer United a deal for Zirkzee.

According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Inter are ready to propose a loan-to-buy deal for the Dutch striker. The report suggests that the Serie A side are prepared to include an obligation to buy in the agreement, meaning they would be required to sign Zirkzee permanently regardless of his performance during the loan spell.

INEOS would ideally like to recoup the £34 million they spent on Zirkzee last summer; however, after a disappointing season in front of goal, it may be difficult for United to demand that amount.

Amorim has previously praised Zirkzee, expressing his desire to keep the forward in January. Speaking to the media, he said:
“I want to keep Josh because he gives everything and he’s trying in training, but we don’t know. The window is open, and we will see what happens.”

United are reportedly close to agreeing a deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Matheus Cunha, who could come in as a direct replacement for Zirkzee.
