Kylian Mbappe on track to set new Real Madrid debut season record

Despite the slow start to his debut season at Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe is just only five goals away from setting a new record at Real Madrid.

Mbappe has shaken off his early struggles in Madrid shirt to put the Los Blancos in the title race. The former PSG star has 33 goals to his name across all competitions and is chasing Real Madrid’s debut season goalscoring record.

The Frenchman’s form in front of goal have seen him equal Cristiano Ronaldo’s debut season total; the Frenchman’s brace against Leganés puts him level with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s production in his 2009–10 campaign with Real Madrid. Mbappé needs to find the back of the net just one more time to officially surpass Ronaldo in the club’s history books.

While Mbappe will surely have no problem surpassing his idol record, he will have to compete with Iván Zamorano who is atop the charts with 37 goals in his first campaign in a white shirt.

Real Madrid are still on course to win the La Liga title, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey. Mbappé’s form in front of goal proves he’s well on his way to breaking Zamorano’s record.

Zamorano’s record of 37 goals in his debut season has stood for over 30 years. With the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldo Nazário, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale failing to break the record, it’s left to see if Mbappe will achieve this feat.

In 2025 alone, Mbappé has scored 19 goals across all competitions. The Frenchman has scored five of Real Madrid’s last seven goals across all competitions.
