Liverpool Make Robertson Transfer Decision After Talks With Tottenham

Liverpool have decided against selling Andy Robertson this January transfer window despite talks with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The current Premier League holders suffered yet another defeat in the league on the weekend, losing 3-2 against Bournemouth. Robertson was brought on at half time for Milos Kerkez, and many fans thought he could be making his final appearance for the club.

However, latest report have claimed Liverpool are not interested in selling the Scotland International this winter.

According to The Athletic, Kostas Tsimikas who was meant to be recalled from his loan spell in Roma might be forced to stay in Italy with his current team yet to find his replacement.

Roma have been unable to sanction Tsimikas’s return as they have not yet found a replacement, meaning a deal to sell Robertson is not progressing.

Liverpool are currently struggling for consistency at the back and selling Robertson at this stage might be a huge mistake.

Arne Slot currently only has three centre-backs and three full-backs at the club, and with Joe Gomez now injured and Ibrahima Konate’s return date uncertain, the Dutch coach only has four defenders for four spots.

Robertson might be forced to play centrally in the coming weeks as Slot will also rely on his experience and leadership.

The defender joined Liverpool from Hull City, following their relegation from the Premier League in 2017. He currently has 363 appearances for Liverpool in nearly nine years at Anfield.

Out of contract in the summer, if Robertson eventually leaves Liverpool, he’ll depart as one of the best full-backs in the clubs long history.
