Man United hold talks with Brighton star over surprise switch

Manchester United are prepared to launch a surprising bid for Brighton defender Pervis Estupinan, according to talkSPORT.
United are looking at adding more firepower to their defense line and the Reds have identified Estupinan as a perfect fit. Brighton are likely to be open to offers for the Belgium international having strengthened in the left-back position by signing Maxim De Cuyper.
According to talkSport, United have held talks with the player’s camp but they face competition from AC Milan, who are also keen on the Ecuadorian.
27-year-old Estupinan has entered the final two years of his Seagulls contract. Since joining the club from Villarreal in 2022, he has made 104 appearances in three seasons.
Those include 30 Premier League matches last term, where the full-back scored once and provided a single assist.
Meanwhile, United already have considerable options at left-back.
Tyrell Malacia has returned to the club following a loan spell at PSV during the second half of last season. The Dutch defender joins Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu, who signed from Lecce in February, as Ruben Amorim’s choice in the position.
United are also in talks with Brentford over the possibilities of signing Bryan Mbeumo. In addition, Amorim’s side are reportedly monitoring Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson’s situation.
The Red Devils have already made three signings so far this summer, with Matheus Cunha their most notable arrival.
The Brazilian forward joined on a five-year deal from Wolves for £62.5million in June.
United begin their pre-season campaign on Saturday with a friendly against Leeds in Stockholm. Cunha is expected to play a part while the likes of Rashford, Garnacho, Antony and Sancho are expected to sit out as they hunt for a new club.
