Man Utd reject Barcelona bid for Rashford, set deadline for improved offer

Manchester United have rejected Barcelona’s offer of £13million to sign Marcus Rashford permanently, according to Daily Mail.

Rashford enjoyed a successful loan spell at Barcelona last season and is willing to continue his adventure at the Spanish giant. With 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions, the England international was an important figure in Hansi Flick’s team.

However, Barcelona have reportedly fail to match United’s £26m loan-to-buy option for the England international.

The report added that Barcelona have until June 15 to submit an improved offer to Man United or ask to take him on loan again, otherwise after this summer’s World Cup, Rashford will be returning to England.

Rashford’s hope of returning to Barcelona suffered a slight setback last week when the Spanish giant announced the signature of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle for £70m.

Barcelona are also plotting a £100m+ move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez to replace Robert Lewandowski.

With Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal still in the team, it’s still unclear if Barcelona will pursue the deal to sign Rashford permanently.

Rashford has been vocal in expressing his desire to continue at Barcelona.

“For sure,” Rashford told ESPN in late 2025 when asked if he wanted to stay in Spain.

“I’m enjoying this football club and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the key clubs in the history of the game. For a player it is an honour.”

If Barcelona fails to agree a deal with United, the likes of Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea and Aston Villa have been linked with the Englishman.

However, he will have to take a pay cut from his current £315,000 per-week wage in order to seal a move away from Old Trafford.
