Manchester City confirm extent of Erling Haaland’s latest ankle injury

Manchester City are set to be without Erling Haaland for some period of time after the club confirmed he had picked up an ankle injury.

Undoubtedly one of the most in-form players in Pep Guardiola’s squad, Haaland was forced to leave the pitch in the second half of Sunday’s FA Cup win over Bournemouth. The striker was assessed and the Blues will wait to discover the full extent of the injury.

However, the club have confirmed Haaland will be out for a period of time, although they remain optimistic of him featuring again this term.

A City statement on Monday read: “Manchester City FC can confirm that Erling Haaland has suffered an injury to his left ankle. The Norwegian striker sustained the injury during Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final victory away at AFC Bournemouth.

“Erling underwent initial tests in Manchester on Monday morning and will now seek specialist consultation to confirm the full extent of the injury. Assessment remains ongoing to ascertain a full prognosis. The expectation is that Erling will be fit in time to play a further part in the remainder of this season, including this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup.

“Everyone at the club wishes Erling a speedy recovery”

Haaland has now joined the likes of Nathan Ake, Rodri, Oscar Bobb, Manuel Akanji, and John Stones in the treatment room.
