Nicolas Jackson punishment revealed after alleged ‘slap’ against Nottingham

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson was at the center of a fiery-tempered incident on Sunday after as Chelsea and Nottingham Forest played out a 1-1 draw.

The 1-1 draw, which ended Chelsea’s recent five-game winning run across all competitions, descended into chaos towards the end when an on-field melee erupted between both sets of players.

Though Marc Cucurella was booked for his part in the incident, footage popped up on social media after the match with Jackson spotted aiming a slap at Nottingham Forest defender Morato.

Jackson had already been substituted by that point in the game and this led to some fans calling for his suspension.

FA have now reviewed the incident and Jackson is safe. Only the clubs will face punishments rather than individuals. Chelsea and Forest stand accused of “failing to ensure they players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way”.

The respective sides have until Thursday to respond to the FA, whether accepting the charge or appealing it. The likely sanction if guilty would be a fine.

Jackson has started the new season in a fine form. The Senegalese international has already contributed four goals and three assists across seven Premier League games played so far.

The former Villarreal forward has started all seven of those, although only once – the 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace – has he completed 90 minutes without being substituted.
