Paris Saint-Germain star breaks Lionel Messi astonishing record

Paris Saint-Germain players have continue their impressive feat on and off the pitch as one of Lionel Messi’s longstanding records is broken.

Ousmane Dembele made history on Monday night when he was named the 2025 Ballon d’Or. However, in what was huge week for the club, another PSG star broke Lionel Messi’s record in grand style.

The club captain Marquinhos broke a record set by Lionel Messi.

William Pacho and Nuno Mendes saw their match-worn items go on the auction block, with their garments going for £13,949 and £26,243 respectively.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who scored on that day also saw his shirt listed, the Georgian winger’s eventually sold for an impressive £36,713.

That puts him seventh in the company’s all-time rankings. His jersey went for just under £1,000 more than Chelsea star Cole Palmer’s, which he wore when he made four assists against Brighton last season.

However, it was Brazilian centre-back Marquinhos who stole the show.

His shirt from the match sold for an astonishing £48,119 – beating Lionel Messi’s record by £252. The Argentine’s Chinese New Year shirt, worn against Stade de Reims in 2023, went for £47,867.

In total, gear from Paris Saint-Germain’s historic night in Munich has sold for more than £171,000, highlighting the appetite for memorabilia among sports fans.

Of the PSG match-issued shirts that went up for auction, the most expensive was ex-Wolves star Vitinha’s, which went for £8,718.
