Usman steps in to face Chimaev at UFC 294 with Costa out.

The fight between Chimaev and Costa has been cancelled due to Paolo Costa not cleared for his elbow surgery 3 weeks ago. UFC 294 will now have another major change with another high-profile replacement coming in within short notice.
Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman will now fight Khamzat Chimaev in the co-main event of the card Oct 21 in Abu Dhabi, UFC president Dana White announced Wednesday on social media.

Usman the former welterweight champion lost his belt to Leon Edward in a rematch with champion in London last time out.

Kamaru will be fighting in the middleweight for the 1st time in which the fight was initially scheduled. It will be the co main event of the day with Volkanovski also stepping in as the late replacement for the injured Charles Oliveira.
