Lionel Messi has described David Beckham as a “wonderful person”, as the former Barcelona forward talked about his relationship with Inter Miami’s president.
Messi has grown a great relationship with Beckham since he decided to join Inter Miami after a disappointing spell at PSG. The 36-year-old during an interview with Simplemente Futbol has now explained that while the two spend little time together professionally, they have a relationship outside of Inter Miami.

The Argentina national team captain noted that Beckham has impressed him with his humility and approachability.
Messi said: “The truth is, he’s impressive. He’s a spectacular person , and nothing else. Although he rarely appears when he’s here, he comes here some days, but we’ve also had a relationship outside of the club, or we’ve shared time when he’s in Miami. He’s a very down-to-earth, humble, approachable person, and the truth is, he’s a wonderful person.”
Beckham was highly influential in securing Messi’s services for Inter Miami. The former England captain conceived of the idea when he first invested in the MLS expansion franchise, over a decade ago. A group from Miami, led by Becks, met up with Jorge Messi (his father and agent) in September 2019, when the idea was first pitched to the Argentinian’s camp.
Inter Miami has become a stronger team since the arrival of Messi with the likes of Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquet also making a move to the MLS club.
