No Guarantees on New Wrexham Signings, Says Parkinson
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson says the club is continuing to explore its options in the transfer market but has admitted there is no certainty that further players will arrive before the window closes.
The Red Dragons have been working to strengthen their squad after opening the season with two successive draws, including Saturday’s 1-1 stalemate with Watford at the Racecourse Ground.
Parkinson has previously spoken about the challenges Wrexham face when trying to recruit players, and he reiterated that the club is competing with teams in the Championship and across Europe for its preferred targets.
“We’re working towards several options,” Parkinson said.
The manager also revealed that he had discussed the club’s recruitment plans with co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney before the Watford match, alongside chief executive Mike Williamson and director Sean Harvey.

“We know what we’re trying to achieve, but we are competing for players who the top teams are looking to get,” Parkinson explained.
Wrexham have identified the positions they want to strengthen, but Parkinson acknowledged that negotiations can be complicated when several clubs are interested in the same players or their current teams are reluctant to sell.
The manager is looking for players capable of making a significant impact rather than simply adding numbers to his squad.
“There’s no guarantees any signings will come in,” Parkinson said, noting that Wrexham’s targets are also attracting interest from clubs in England and elsewhere in Europe.
He added that if the right deals cannot be completed, Wrexham can rely on players currently working their way back from injury.
Josh Windass is among those nearing a return. The forward has missed Wrexham’s first two matches of the campaign but is expected to be available for Friday’s home fixture against Birmingham City, which comes just before the transfer window closes.
Libby Cacace and Ben Sheaf remain sidelined. Sheaf was an important player for Wrexham during their play-off push last season.
Wrexham have already completed three signings this summer, with Danny Imray among the arrivals from Crystal Palace.
The wing-back made an immediate impact against Watford, scoring Wrexham’s equaliser before later hitting the post as the hosts were unable to find a winning goal.
Despite another draw, Parkinson said he has been encouraged by his team’s performances in the opening two games.
The Wrexham boss also stressed that the club will not spend money simply for the sake of making another signing.
“You don’t make a signing just for the sake of it, or spend big on a player, but it’s not the fit we want,” he said.
Parkinson believes the club’s three summer additions have already demonstrated their quality, while further reinforcements will be considered if the right opportunities become available.
For now, Wrexham remain active in the market, but supporters will have to wait to see whether Parkinson can secure any of his remaining targets before the deadline.
