Premier League side, Chelsea might be losing one of their youngsters as Ian Maatsen has reportedly told the club that he wants to join Borussia Dortmund on a permanent deal this summer.
After failing to secure a starting spot in the team, Ian Maatsen left Stamford Bridge to join Dortmund on loan in the January transfer window.
His loan spell at the German side has been fruitful with Maatsen putting up impressive performances week in, week out.
Maatsen scored his first-ever Champions League goal this week as Dortmund reached the semi-finals. Reports have now claimed he’s not seeking a return to Chelsea.
Reports in reports in Germany claimed that Maatsen has a release clause of €35-40m and Dortmund will not have any issue paying such fee.
Maatsen spent last season on loan at Burnley, helping Vincent Kompany’s side secure a league title as he was named in the Championship Team of the Season.
Maatsen has made 17 appearances for Dortmund to date and there are clear indications he will continue to play until the end of the season.
