Jose Mourinho gives Chelsea the green light to pursue managerial target

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has heaped praises on Sporting Lisbon head coach Ruben Amorim, who has been tipped with a summer move to the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim has caught the eye of top European teams with his performance with Sporting Lisbon.

The 39-year-old manager has been linked with a move to Liverpool but the speculations has cooled off. Reports have now claimed Chelsea will look to sign him.

Mourinho has now shared his thoughts on Amorim and his chances of coaching a top side.

Speaking to Mais Futebol, Mourinho was asked for his thoughts on Amorim and said: “It’s also a question I shouldn’t answer, but what can I tell you? I like him as a person, I like him as a coach.

“I think he’s capable of coaching in any league and he’s capable of coaching at any club. But he’s in a good league and he’s at a great club.

“It’s his decision and it will be, or not, up to the clubs that want him or don’t want him or want to convince him, with more or less arguments. What’s clear from me is that I like the person and I like the coach.”

Amorim has built a great reputation at Sporting Lisbon, who are on course to win their second Portuguese title under his stewardship.

Chelsea have struggled for consistency again this year and are set for another disappointing finish in the Premier League. It’s left to see if Pochettino will be asked to leave.
