Marc Guehi Tipped To Make Man City Debut Against Wolves

Marc Guehi Completes £20m Man City Switch, Outlines His Ambition

Marc Guehi is in contention to make his Manchester City debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.

Guehi completed his move from Crystal Palace to City on Monday with the England international signing a five-and-a-half year contract. Man City beat off competition from Liverpool to secure the England International services.

However, Guehi was ineligible for Man City’s Champions League game against Bodo/Glimt in midweek but he’s now set to make his bow.

According to Guardiola, Guehi is ready but the Spaniard must wait to see if any other players are available.

Guardiola said: “Yes. Really good [to have him]. Considering the absence of central defenders it’s really good.”

The former Bayern Munich manager is excited to have him in the team but says having Guéhi is not the only solution to returning to winning ways after back-to-back defeats.

“The team I know isn’t fragile because of one player,” Guardiola added.

“Marc is exceptional. Captain [of Crystal Palace], player for England. Incredible season with Glasner and this season they struggled for themselves and the injuries as well.

“I had the feeling but officially not just about one player. It’s nice but it’s not just about that. I know what the solution to make to not have the fragility.”

Bernardo Silva will be back in the squad after missing the game in Norway through suspension while Antoine Semenyo is also available after also being ineligible for the Champions League.

Neither Matheus Nunes nor Nico made the trip in midweek through illness and injury.

Guardiola is waiting to see if Nunes has recovered but is less hopeful about our Spanish midfielder.

“Matheus had a virus, I don’t know we’ll speak with the doctor,” he added.

“Nico, I don’t think so.”

Guehi is set for his first appearance in the centre of defence with John Stones, Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol all suffering injury setbacks.
